The Kingdom ofThailand is situated in the heart of Southeast Asia with Bangkok as the capital city. It shares a border with Cambodia to the east, Laos to the northeast, Myanmar to the west, and Malaysia to the south. Thailand, with its shape resembling a head of an elephant, is around 198,114 square miles, or roughly the size of the state of Texas. The Kingdom borders two bodies of water—the Gulf of Thailand to the south and the Indian Ocean to the west. Thailand is divided into four natural regions: the north, northeast, the central plain, and the south. The north is a mountainous region comprised of ridges, natural forest, and deep, narrow alluvial valleys. The northeast is an arid region characterized by a rolling surface and undulating hills. Central Thailand is a lush, fertile valley and possesses the richest and most extensive rice-producing area in the country. The south is hilly with thick forests and rich deposits of minerals and iron ores. The southern region is also the center for rubber production and the cultivation of other topical crops. Thailand has a warm, tropical climate affected by a seasonal monsoon. Thailand experiences a rainy season from June to October and a dry season for the rest of the year. Temperatures average 75 to 92 degrees Fahrenheit, with the highest temperatures occurring from March to May and the lowest appearing in December and January.

Thailand has thousands of visitors every year and for many, the self catering option is preferred. Rather than staying in a hotel or resort, they choose to stay in one of the many, beautiful villas, or cottages, which are set back from the hustle and bustle of the many towns and cities. Choosing a self catering holiday, gives you the freedom to literally please yourself, as you are not tied to restaurant opening times, you can enjoy the peaceful surroundings, you don’t have to worry about finding a sun bed around a communal swimming pool. There are so many benefits to this choice of holiday. The most villas and cottages around Thailand, are situated in private grounds, with their own swimming pool, some with barbeques, all within an enclosed area. This makes the self catering option perfect for families with small children, or maybe people who just want to get away from it all and enjoy some privacy. The food in Thailand is fantastic but not to everyone’s taste, which makes self catering a far easier option, as you can still enjoy the wonderful flavours. A trip to one of the fantastic food markets, will give you the choice of how hot you want the food to be. Apart from rice, chillies are the staple diet for Thais, but not everyone likes their food hot and spicy. Shops and supermarkets are also very good, as you can buy most meats and a wide selection of fresh fish and vegetables, at very reasonable prices. The Thailand's beautiful natural scenery are a number of modern.
